Create Notifications

You have the ability to receive customized notifications when new messages, files, or data elements have been added to your health record. To set up your notifications, go to Communications Center > Notifications.

Viewing Notifications in the Portal

To create notifications

From the Notifications page, click the red add button to create a new notification. The Notification Settings box is displayed.

In the Choose an Alert Rule Template field, use the drop-down list to select the type of notification you would like to create. Use the instructions below for the type of alert you select.

Blood Glucose

  1. (Required) In the Title field, enter the title for your notification. This title will be displayed on the Active Notifications screen.

  2. In the Description field, enter a description of the alert. This description will be displayed on the Active Notifications screen.

  3. (Required) In the Send Alert When Blood Glucose is section, build your alert based on the available fields. For example, set an alert for when a blood glucose value is greater than 300mg/dL, when the value is less than 70mg/dL, or when the value is 'not between' 70 and 200mg/dL.

  4. The Send Alert Based on section defaults to Recent Readings. If desired, change to Average Reading or More Than One Reading in a Row.

  5. In the Include Readings Within a Period of fields, enter values for a quantity and a duration, e.g. 2 weeks or 1 month.

  6. (Required) In the Send Alert Emails To field, enter the address(es) that the alert(s) are to be sent to. Use commas to separate multiple email addresses.  

  7. If using the mobile app and you want notifications sent there, check the Send a push notification to the mobile app box.

  8. Click Save.

Blood Pressure

  1. (Required) In the Title field, enter the title for your notification. This title will be displayed on the Active Notifications screen.

  2. In the Description field, enter a description of the alert. This description will be displayed on the Active Notifications screen.

  3. In the Send Alert When section, select the details for the Systolic and/or Diastolic values using the Greater Than, Less Than, or Not Between parameters and the values entered in the mmHg fields. For example, when the Systolic value is greater than 150 or the Diastolic value is less than 60.

  4. The Send Alert Based on section defaults to Recent Readings. If desired, change to Average Reading or More Than One Reading in a Row.

  5. In the Include Readings Within a Period of fields, enter values for a quantity and a duration, e.g. 2 weeks or 1 month.

  6. (Required) In the Send Alert Emails To field, enter the address(es) that the alert(s) are to be sent to. Use commas to separate multiple email addresses.  

  7. If using the mobile app and you want notifications sent there, check the Send a push notification to the mobile app box.

  8. Click Save.

Files

  1. (Required) In the Title field, enter the title for your notification. This title will be displayed on the Active Notifications screen.

  2. In the Description field, enter a description of the alert. This description will be displayed on the Active Notifications screen.

  3. In the File Type section, the Medical File and Other File Types boxes are checked. Uncheck either one of these to identify the types of files that will trigger the notification when uploaded.

  4. (Required) In the Send Alert Emails To field, enter the address(es) that the alert(s) are to be sent to. Use commas to separate multiple email addresses.  

  5. If using the mobile app and you want notifications sent there, check the Send a push notification to the mobile app box.

  6. Click Save.

HbA1C

  1. (Required) In the Title field, enter the title for your notification. This title will be displayed on the Active Notifications screen.

  2. In the Description field, enter a description of the alert. This description will be displayed on the Active Notifications screen.

  3. In the Send Alert When HbA1C is section, select the details for the value using the Greater Than, Less Than, or Not Between parameters and the values and units of measure entered (% or mmol/mol) entered in the mmHg fields. For example, when the HbA1C  value is greater than 7%.

  4. In the Include Readings Within a Period of fields, enter values for a quantity and a duration, e.g. 2 weeks or 1 month.

  5. (Required) In the Send Alert Emails To field, enter the address(es) that the alert(s) are to be sent to. Use commas to separate multiple email addresses.  

  6. If using the mobile app and you want notifications sent there, check the Send a push notification to the mobile app box.

  7. Click Save.

Health Journal

  1. (Required) In the Title field, enter the title for your notification. This title will be displayed on the Active Notifications screen.

  2. In the Description field, enter a description of the alert. This description will be displayed on the Active Notifications screen.

  3. In the Send Alert When section, select the value, then select the details for the value using the Greater Than, Less Than, or Not Between parameters and the values and units of measure entered (% or mmol/mol) entered in the mmHg fields. For example, when the HbA1C  value is greater than 7%.

  4. In the Send Alert Based On section,  select eiher Recent Readings or More Than One Reading in a Row option. 

  5. In the Include Readings Within a Period of fields, enter values for a quantity and a duration, e.g. 2 weeks or 1 month.

  6. (Required) In the Send Alert Emails To field, enter the address(es) that the alert(s) are to be sent to. Use commas to separate multiple email addresses.  

  7. If using the mobile app and you want notifications sent there, check the Send a push notification to the mobile app box.

  8. Click Save.

Message

  1. (Required) In the Title field, enter the title for your notification. This title will be displayed on the Active Notifications screen.

  2. In the Description field, enter a description of the alert. This description will be displayed on the Active Notifications screen.

  3. In the Include Readings Within a Period of fields, enter values for a quantity and a duration, e.g. 2 weeks or 1 month.

  4. (Required) In the Send Alert Emails To field, enter the address(es) that the alert(s) are to be sent to. Use commas to separate multiple email addresses.  

  5. If using the mobile app and you want notifications sent there, check the Send a push notification to the mobile app box.

  6. Click Save.

Weight

  1. (Required) In the Title field, enter the title for your notification. This title will be displayed on the Active Notifications screen.

  2. In the Description field, enter a description of the alert. This description will be displayed on the Active Notifications screen.

  3. In the Send Alert When Weight is section, select the details for the value using the Greater Than, Less Than, or Not Between parameters and the values and units of measure entered (lbs, kg, or lbs and oz.). For example, when the Weight value is greater than 250 lbs.

  4. In the Include Readings Within a Period of fields, enter values for a quantity and a duration, e.g. 2 weeks or 1 month.

  5. (Required) In the Send Alert Emails To field, enter the address(es) that the alert(s) are to be sent to. Use commas to separate multiple email addresses.  

  6. If using the mobile app and you want notifications sent there, check the Send a push notification to the mobile app box.

  7. Click Save.

Viewing Notifications in the Portal

To view your notifications in the portal, go to Communications Center > Notification Settings. Active Notifications are displayed at the top with the Title, Type, Condition, and Description. Click on an alert to see the details, edit the alert, delete the message, or reset the alert.  See also: Notifications.
