Unreleased Future Orders may be released from the patient chart by accessing the Verify Orders screen and then selecting the Future Orders option. The option will be available only if there are Future Orders that have been entered on the patient profile. If all Future Orders have expired, this option will be disabled.
The following options are available on the Action Bar.
•Back Arrow: Select to return to the Verify Orders screen.
•Release Selected Orders: Select to release the selected orders.
•Cancel: Select to cancel the selected orders.
•View: This will be enabled if an order is selected and will launch the Future Order Detail screen for the order.
•Refresh: Updates the screen with the most current information.
The screen will display filters (check boxes) for each order type: Pharmacy, Nursing, and Ancillary.
•Start Date Range: Enter a Start Date and End Date to narrow search results, if desired.
•Search: Search for an order by the Description or Order Reason (in the drop-down box).
The screen will display the following columns from left to right:
•Start Date/Time: Populates the order start date/time.
•Order Date/Time: Populates the date/time the order was entered.
•Description: Populates with the order item description.
•Order Reason: Populates the Order Reason entered on the Future Order.
•Ordering Provider: Populates the provider listed on the order.
•Department: Populates the order department (same department listed for the order in Order Chron).
•Expiration Date: Populates the order expiration date.
•Additional Info: Populates the name of the Order Set or Order List from which the order was placed.
Select Web Client > Whiteboard List > Select Patient > Verify Orders > Future Orders

Unreleased Future Orders
Select the items by choosing the item check box individually, or select all future orders by selecting the check box on the header line. Then select Release Selected Orders.
•If Future Pharmacy Orders are released on a patient that does not have have any specific drug allergies, No Known Drug Allergies (NKDA), or No Known Allergies (NKA) indicated in their profile, the user may be prompted with "This patient has no drug allergy information entered which is required before releasing Medication(s). Would you like to enter allergy information now?" This prompt is enabled by a Behavior Control in System Administration (that can be enabled for a Login or Role) titled Prompt for Drug Allergy Entry When Releasing Pharmacy Future Orders.
oIf Yes is selected, the user will be launched into the Allergies application to address the drug allergies and then back arrow to the Future Orders queue.
oIf No is selected, the user will be returned to the Unreleased Future Orders queue, but will not be able to release the order(s) until the Drug Allergies have been addressed.
•The user may also be prompted to enter Height/Length, Weight, and Scale from the Vitals application. While the Scale is optional, both Height and Weight must be addressed prior to releasing the order. This prompt is enabled by a Behavior Control titled Prompt for Height and Weight Entry When Releasing Pharmacy Future Orders.
Note: These behavior controls are recommended to be set to Allow for the following roles: RN, LPN, Pharmacist, Nursing Staff

Unreleased Future Orders
•Clinical Monitoring will need to be reviewed and overrides may need to be addressed when Future Pharmacy Orders are released. This ensures that any changes to medications, allergies, or patient conditions made after the order was placed are evaluated prior to administration. This prompt is enabled by a Behavior Control in System Administration (that can be enabled for a Login or Role) titled Prompt for Clinical Monitoring When Releasing Pharmacy Future Orders. The Clinical Monitoring will read from the table based upon the role of the user: Nursing, Pharmacist, or Physician.
