The check-in process places the patient's current visit on the Tracking Board to allow documentation within the patient chart. The patient will remain on the Tracking Board until discharged. See Patient Location Maintenance for detailed information.
NOTE: If the Discharge Checklist is set up for the department, the patient chart will be marked as Incomplete once the check-in process is completed. This will allow the chart to be available on the Incomplete Tracking Board list filter.
1. | From the System Menu > Hospital Base Menu, access the Emergency Room department and perform a full registration with the typical registration processes. |
2. | Once the visit has been created, select Check In from the Misc Options drop-down on the Visit Screen. |
NOTE: If the Discharge Checklist is set up for the EDIS department, the patient chart will be marked as Incomplete (for the Discharge Checklist) once the check-in process is completed.
3. | The Location field will display the default location for the EDIS based on the department setup (e.g., Waiting Room). Select Update or select another room (as described below). |
To Select a Different Room
Use the following steps if another room is desired or a default location is not designated in the department table:
1. | Select the location magnifying glass for department room selection. |
2. | Select the Emergency Room department number from the Nursing Station drop-down. |
3. | Select an available unoccupied room. |
4. | Choose Select from the action bar. |
5. | From the Patient Location: Check-in screen, select Update. |
NOTE: If a patient is Admitted to a room through ADT functions, they cannot be placed on the Tracking Board. Attempting to place an admitted patient on the Tracking Board will cause the system to prompt, "Patient Already in Room."
