The admit process will admit patients to the hospital from the Tracking Board.
1. | Double-click an occupied room on the Tracking Board. This displays the Patient Location Maintenance screen. |
2. | Select Admit to Hospital. This displays the Patient Admit screen. |
3. | Address the following fields on the Patient Admit screen: |
• | Admit Date: The admit date defaults to the current date. Use the calendar icon to modify the date or manually enter in mmddccyy format. |
• | Admit Time: The admit time defaults to the current time. |
• | Patient Type: Select the appropriate patient stay type from the pull-down list. |
• | Patient Sub Type: Select the magnifying glass icon to select the sub type from the Patient Sub Type Table. |
• | Service Code: Select the magnifying glass icon to select the service code from the Service Code Table. |
• | Admit Code: Select the magnifying glass icon to select the admit code from the Admit Code Table. |
• | Condition: Select the magnifying glass icon to select the condition code from the Condition Code Table. |
• | Accommodation: Select the magnifying glass icon to select the accommodation code from the Accommodation Code Table. |
• | Room: Select the magnifying glass icon to select the room from the Rooms Table. |
• | Origin: Select the magnifying glass icon to select the origin code from the Origin Code Table. |
• | Financial Class: Select the magnifying glass icon to select the insurance coverage from the Insurance List Table. |
• | Initials: Automatically pulls the current user's initials based upon the UBL. |
• | 23 Hour Automated Observation Admit: When utilizing automated observation charges, the system will prompt for the 23-hour observation admit date and time. These fields will remain grayed out on the screen and will only be accessible when the patient is admitted with one of the observation accommodation codes loaded on page 8 of the AHIS table. |
• | Physician Admit Reason: Enter the physician's admit reason, if applicable. This field will allow for free text, or the look-up icon may be selected to search for the admit reason. A smart search is available to search by diagnosis description or ICD-10. Once a physician admit reason is populated in this field, it will copy to all other Physician Admit Reason locations in the system. |
4. | Select Admit To Hospital to exit and save the information entered. |
NOTE: For critical access hospitals, all of the same Critical Access requirements to create a Level of Care change will exist in the EDIS: 1) Critical Access must be turned on; 2)The financial class must match what is in the CAH switch in AHIS; and 3)The trigger to create a Level of Care change must match either the stay types or service codes that are in the Level of Care table. The Level of Care change screen will display if it meets the criteria and after the Service Code field is updated. This information will update into the Census LOC Change log, after which the Critical Access functionality will work as normal.
NOTE: Selecting the back arrow will exit the Admit screen back to the Patient Location Maintenance screen without saving the information entered. The system will prompt, "Exit without admitting?" Select either "Yes" or "No."
